Before the state’s data portal launched last year, we asked a handful of people in the data community about their expectations of the portal. We reached out to a few of them to see what they think of it now.

Government should proactively share data for anyone to use, largely because it allows us to better measure how government is doing. But putting it into practice has been more difficult — and Connecticut is finding out why. Some of the challenges are technical; others are cultural.
