Traffic stops, by race

Print More

This data looks at traffic stops from Oct. 1, 2013, to May 31, 2014. Black drivers have been pulled over for traffic stops at nearly twice the rate of everyone else in Connecticut. Driving population is estimated based on American Community Survey data and commuting patterns. The report notes that the margins of error for these numbers are likely greater than the ACS estimates of daytime populations, which range from 1.1 percent in Bridgeport to 9.6 percent in East Granby. A longer explanation can be found starting on page 23 of the report.

NOTE**: Black stops per 100 drivers are not statistically meaningful in all communities, due to small minority populations.
